Plano, TX (PRWEB) August 12, 2004

Paul Jenkins, recently qualified to be on the ballot as an independent this November for the US House of Representatives in Texas District 3, has crossed the donation threshold and has filed the required FEC forms for his candidacy.

In announcing the filing, Mr. Jenkins said, Â?I am encouraged by the support we have received to date in our independent campaign for US Congress. Reaching the FEC donation limit is a great milestone for the campaign, and gives us the initial money we need to take on the Republican machine in the 3rd District. By giving the voters of the 3rd District a true fiscal conservative, socially moderate choice this November, I believe we will prevail over the 7-term incumbent who once promised to serve only 3 terms.Â?

Mr. Jenkins has been a Plano resident for more than 10 years and owns and operates a consulting firm advising clients on technology and management issues. He graduated with a degree in electrical engineering from Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Georgia. Mr. Jenkins is married with three children.

The election for US Congress will be held November 2, 2004.

Austin, TX (PRWEB) October 5, 2006

This unconventional book reads like a crime novel! It details the shocking evidence about the corruption involved in electronic voting systems, their vendors, and how OUR taxpayer dollars have been used to steal our democracy right before our very eyes. A real page-turner.

‘HACKED!” authors appeared recently at four significant events across the country, where citizens are saying it loud and clear : electronic voting systems cannot be trusted, and we must return to safe, hand counted paper ballot elections by NOVEMBER 7th, with totals posted at the precinct level.

Event #1: They spoke at two presentations featuring Bev Harris of Black Box Voting in Austin, Texas on September 22nd and 23rd. Crucial evidence against Diebold electronic voting systems was detailed by Harris; and Jeremiah Akin, a computer programmer who analyzed the software of Sequoia voting systems, presented his findings regarding the ease with which fraud and election flipping can be executed with that system’s software.

Event #2: Vickie Karp spoke at a national election reform summit, “We Count 2006″, held in Cleveland, Ohio on Sept. 29 and 30th. There, several experts, including many from high-tech backgrounds, agreed that paper ballots, hand-counted in public view, represents the safest election method available, and the least prone to error.

Event #3: Co-author Abbe DeLozier was one of several featured speakers on 9/30/06 at an Atlanta, Georgia press conference organized by Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney calling on Georgia Secretary of State Cathy Cox to provide Georgia citizens with paper ballots in the upcoming November elections. In the recent Georgia primary, McKinney supporters repeatedly cast a vote for her and her opponent’s name showed up on the screen. Bev Harris demonstrated a simple hack that anyone could perform in moments on a Diebold electronic voting machine, thereby corrupting election results.

Event #4: Author activist Karp accompanied VoteRescue founder Karen Renick in a meeting with representatives from Texas Secretary of State Roger Williams to discuss alternatives to e-voting and deliver their requests to have hand-counted paper ballots available for Texans to vote in in the upcoming November 7th elections.

DeLozier and Karp have been featured recently on syndicated talk shows around the country.
Philadelphia, PA (Vocus) March 16, 2010

Azavea Inc., an award-winning Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software design and development firm, announces the release of a new ‘Cicero Free’ plan – a free subscription plan for Cicero, Azavea’s district matching and elected official lookup web service API. The plan offers up to 1,000 credits each month which can be used toward any coordinate-based legislative district matching, elected official data lookups and/or map web service requests. Azavea created the ‘Cicero Free’ pricing plan to give organizations with limited resources the opportunity to provide their website or online application with legislative data through the Cicero API free of charge.

The Cicero web API currently provides legislative district boundaries and elected official information to public and private web applications for newspapers, election watchdog groups, philanthropic foundations, unions, arts organizations and private commercial firms. A beta user of the ‘Cicero Free’ plan is Our Philadelphia, a new website built by Common Cause Pennsylvania. The site tracks campaigns contributions in Pennsylvania and will also soon focus on redistricting reform for Philadelphia and the state, tracking the influence of lobbyists, and promoting higher ethical standards for public officials.

The free subscription makes available most of the Cicero API including maps of districts, district matching based on coordinates and contact information for local, state and national elected officials in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. The Cicero database now includes almost 10,000 legislative boundaries and information on almost 12,000 elected officials. Details about the ‘Cicero Free’ plan are available at: http://www.azavea.com/Products/Cicero/Purchase/CiceroFreeAccount.aspx.

In 2009 Azavea released several new additions and improvements to the Cicero API including support for ESRI’s new ArcGIS Online premium geocoding service and a decrease in the price for Cicero services. In addition, the firm launched a batch geocoding and district matching service. The service uses the same Cicero API provided to developers, but it enables users to send Azavea a database of addresses that are stamped with geographic coordinates, districts and legislator contact information and then returned to the customer.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) February 1, 2005

Using published results from the secession election of 2002 and results from the last mayoral election, the Bill Wyatt campaign has exhibited that by reviving the issue of secession in the 2005 Los Angeles Mayoral primary the election can be resolved in the first round of voting.

Bill Wyatt can win this election if the voters who turned out and voted for secession recognize this opportunity and vote again in the March 8th primary. Bill Wyatt is the only candidate in this election that ran in the 2002 secession campaign who is challenging Hahn with the issue of secession in the upcoming primary. The incumbent Mayor Hahn won the last mayoral runoff in 2001 with 53% of the vote, 293,273 votes in the runoff. In 2002 the secession measure got 342,287 votes, 20% more than enough to win this election in the first round during the primary.

In fact, because of the light turnout in the primary that Antonio Villaraigosa won in 2001 before facing Hahn, only 250,000 votes were necessary to win a majority, which represents only 73% of the secession turnout. Therefore if only 3 out of 4 secession voters return to the polls and vote for Bill Wyatt it will deliver a knock-out punch to the rest of the candidates in the upcoming election. For secession supporters it would clear the road for a nonpartisan administration that would encourage directly elected community representation in all parts of LA, North, South, East and West.

The Bill Wyatt campaign also points out that by resolving the election in the primary, without a run-off, Los Angeles will save hundreds of thousands of dollars directly by not having to publicly finance a run-off and Angelinos will save millions of dollars by not having to contribute to additional campaigns. The Bill Wyatt campaign claims that these projected scenarios are totally feasible just by getting out the secession vote in 2005. Bill Wyatt states, “It is time to set the record straight. Self-determination is more than a cause, it’s a right.”

Details & Background: Bill Wyatt is a 44 year old candidate in the non-partisan municipal election that will be held on March 8, 2005 for mayor. He has participated in other elections for public office including the Los Angeles Secession campaign in 2002, the Gubernatorial Recall campaign of 2003 and the Republican primary election in 2004 which Bill ran in five state primaries and got 10% of the vote in Oklahoma. Currently Bill is pushing an agenda that is focused on revisiting the secession issue. Free yard signs, t-shirts and bumper stickers are available by request through the website.
